Happy Easter!

A Happy Easter to everyone. Today we celebrated our Lord's victory over death through His glorious resurrection. The Church was beautifully and imaginatively decorated. The stone in the Walkers & Talkers garden of Gethsemane scene had been rolled back to reveal the linen cloths.

Ecumenical Holy Week Events

 Holy Week has witnessed our communities share worship and fellowship together. On Tuesday, Fr Paul led us in a 'Christianised Passover,' assisted by Rev Peter and Deacon Rosemary. Complete with the authentic Jewish foods and wine (and slightly less authentic Ribena for some!), we went through the Bible stories that our Jewish brothers and sisters remember and celebrate at this time of year.

The Justice and Peace Commission works to promote Catholic Social Teaching and action for social and economic justice, and for peace, throughout the Diocese.

The Fieldworker is employed by the Diocese of Nottingham to support and develop the work of the Justice and Peace Commission in parishes, schools, and with other organisations.
The Fieldworker is based at Willson House, Derby Road, Nottingham.

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist Renewal Day at Our Lady of Lourdes

On Saturday, Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist held their annual renewal day at 'Our Lady of Lourdes' Church in Mickleover.

We were lucky enough to have Bishop Malcolm McMahon with us as the key speaker. He received an ethusiastic round of applause as he entered to congratulate him on his promotion as Archbishop of Liverpool. The Bishop said he would be sad to leave the diocese of Nottingham though pleased to have this new ministry entrusted to him.

Congratulations to Bishop Malcolm on his appointment as Archbishop of Liverpool

                On Friday it was announced that the Bishop of Nottingham, the Right Reverend Malcolm McMahon, has been appointed as the ninth Archbishop of the Metropolitan See of Liverpool. We will be sad to see him go after more than 13 years service to the Catholics of Nottingham Diocese.
