Happy Birthday Your Majesty!


On Sunday we saluted Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth, on her 90th birthday by releasing red, white and blue balloons after the Morning Service.

Good Friday Stations of the Cross Service

On Good Friday both congregations came together for our Stations of the Cross service. This year the material came from Cafod and was inspired by the people of Uganda. We particularly focussed on the problems with securing a clean water supply that continues to affect a quarter of the country. This impacts on life at many levels - washing, cooking, drinking, growing crops and children being able to attend school.


We Celebrate the Feast of the Passover

On Tuesday of Holy Week members of both our congregations came together at St Alban's Parish Centre to celebrate a symbolic Feast of the Passover. Led by Fr Paul Newman and Rev Peter Bates we took the opportunity to attempt to connect with the Jewish roots of the Christian faith. Jesus was a practising Jew and His death and resurrection took place against the background of the joyful feast of the Passover, when the Jewish nation celebrates the liberation of God's people from slavery in Eygpt.

Holocaust Memorial Day service 2016 at St. Mary on the Bridge Chapel

As part of the Holocaust commemorations in Derby a service of reflection was held at the Bridge Chapel. The little chapel was full to bursting! Among the congregation were the Deputy Mayor of Derby, and representatives from the Ukraine community and the Jewish community, and the service was led by The Reverend Dr. Elizabeth Thomson, Canon Missioner.
